How to upload files using FTP?

Posted December 1, 2015

In this tutorial, we will be using Filezilla to access your FTP account. Download Filezilla first.

An FTP client allows you to easily drag and drop files to your website.

Let's get started!

1. Install and open Filezilla.

2. Use the Quickconnect bar at the top to connect to your web hosting account.

Host: your domain name
Username: your cPanel username
Password: your cPanel password
Port: 21

3. Press Quickconnect.

4. Depending on your connection configuration, an Unknown Certificate dialog may popup. Hanep Hosting has available SSL certificates for all servers so your connection will be encrypted. Just tick "Always trust certificate in future sessions" and press OK.

5. If successful, the status message at the top panel should be "Directory listing of "/" successful".

6. From the list of directories at the right panel, locate public_html and double click it. All of your files should be uploaded here.

7. To upload files, use the left panel to locate them. Once you've found them, simple drag-and-drop them from the left to the right panel. You will see the transfer progress at the bottom panel.

8. You're done!
