How to create a database?

Posted December 1, 2015

In this tutorial, we will be using MySQL Database Wizard to create your database and a database user. It's more secure to have a separate MySQL user for each of your databases rather than using your cPanel username.

To get started, follow these stesps.

1. Log into your cPanel account.

2. Click the MySQL Database Wizard icon.

3. Give your database a name. For example, mydata

4. Next, provide a database user name and a strong password. Let's say, myuser. It's better to generate a random password for extra security.

5. Next, give access privileges to your database user. Select only those that you need for your queries. Click Next Step.

6. You're done!

Make sure to take note of your database username, name and password as you will be needing them for your applications.

Notice that both your database username and name have your cPanel username prefix. Do not forget about that as well.
